Hey and welcome back to week 7 of Genius Hour! It's been awhile since my last blog post, seeing that it has been extremely difficult for me to get ingredients while dealing with our current situation. Nonetheless, I am back and was able to secure ingredients to make up for the weeks missed!
This week I gave the cheesecake another try. If you remember last time it did not go well at all. The cake was burnt and not done on the inside. I used the same recipe as I liked how the inside and crust turned out last time. This time I set the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and left it in for about an 1 hour and 15 minutes. I decided not use a water bath this time to see how I liked it. The cake definitely did much better cooking it low and slow, but I think a water bath would help. I still used a cup of melted butter to keep the crust together, rather than a half cup, which I really like. Other than that, and the baking instructions I didn't stray far from the original recipe. For my last attempt I will use a water bath, and possibly a new recipe. I just don't know how much I truly like this recipe, so we will see! Stay tuned.
